  1. I am on my 3rd week of healing from upper jaw surgery. Did the feeling in the roof of your mouth and upper teeth come back? When did they come back?

    • Congratulations on making it to 3 weeks post-op! As for the feeling in my upper gums/roof of my mouth/ teeth, I have little feeling. Whenever I poke my gums/roof of mouth with my finger nail it feels like a small needle poke however i can’t feel my finger running across my gums. Whenever I did get some feeling back it was at random times during the first month or two after surgery. I read that whatever feeling you have at 6 months is the feeling you will have the rest of your life and I am currently at 5 months to the day on May 19th. Hope this helped.

Great site!!! Had a quick question. My Wife had double jaw surgery this past Monday May 12. 2014. My question is just a little while ago while she was just sat up drinking water it felt like she swallowed something she said and it scarped the back of her throat. Don’t mean to sound gross but I was probably thinking if was from all the dried up blood in her nose and some of it broke free. Any help would be great. Thanks so much!!!!

    • Thank you! To answer your question, my experience with swallowing for a week or two after surgery also felt odd like something had scraped the back of my throat or some plate in my upper jaw moved back when i swallowed, My surgeon told me it was normal and nothing was wrong and moving and sure enough the swallowing problem went away eventually. It may be the dried blood or it might be because she is not used to the new position of her bite causing her to swallow different or something. I would ask the surgeon at the next check-up though just to make sure nothing is wrong. Hope this helps!
